Buy Two Way Radios is constantly looking for great products to carry. This means we spend a considerable amount of time doing research, talking with customers, and meeting industry people. We pride ourselves in the fact that we do not just carry one brand (like a lot of other places). This means we can provide you with the communications solutions you need, and not try to pressure you to buy something because it is all we have.
After meeting with a lot of great people, and talking with our customers, we started to give Icom a serious look. Well, we liked what we found. Icom is a very solid, yet personable, company. They are not so huge they could care less about their customers, not too small either. They do not "farm out" any design work, even the manufacturing. When they say they make their radios completely in-house at Icom, they mean it. This means they have full control over the design, manufacturing, and quality of their products. We like that.
Buy Two Way Radios is now an authorized dealer for Icom two way radios and Icom accessories. We are excited about this product line as it allows us to offer our customers a full range of LMR products from simple portable radios to advanced digital and repeater systems. If you are interested in an Icom product you do not see listed, please contact us. Over the next few weeks we will be doing some more detailed blog posts on Icom radios and Icom accessories.
Now that we are an Icom dealer, we can provide even more solutions for your communications needs. We see Icom as truly enriching the products and services we offer (at a great price as all of you know!). Combined with our personal approach, you will now have even more options. As always, contact us with any questions, or to just say hi. Everyone have a great weekend![related_products is_auto_added="1"]

I can not say anything about it yet, but we have some rather exciting news here at Buy Two Way Radios. Must be good, must not tell anyone yet, must be good.
Until then, a new, fun thing you can do with your radios!
We often get people looking for radios that are not all black and grey. While my predilection for a long discontinued certain yellow radio is obvious, we have a few others that are currently active products and that have a bit of color to them as well.
For instance, the Midland LXT630X3VP3 has a yellow faceplate, the Midland X-TALKER T31VP two way radio has a red faceplate, the Midland X-TALKER T51VP3 is a bit orange, and the Midland X-Talker T10X3M comes in three different colors, yellow, orange and blue. Plus, you can buy all three in one pack.
Some are available in multiple color options, such as the Wouxun KG-S65G GMRS radio, KG-S88G Plus GMRS radio, KG-Q10G GMRS radio, KG-Q10H amateur radio and KG-915G GMRS radio with Bluetooth.
Those are just a few of the radios we have that are more than just traditional black.
Another thing you can try, some legacy radios, such as the old Motorola Talkabout series, have a faceplate that can be removed. This means you can paint it to any color you want!
If you do decide to customize your radio a bit, just make sure you only paint the removable parts and keep paint away from buttons, speakers, and microphones. A light coat of paint works best and helps avoid interfering with how the radio operates. The goal is to add a little personality to your radio, not turn it into a permanent science experiment.
Another simple way people personalize their radios is with colored lanyards, belt clips, or small labels to help identify which radio belongs to whom. This can be especially useful if several people in a group are using the same model radio. A quick glance can tell you which radio is yours without having to check the channel or settings.
Two way radios are practical tools, but that does not mean they have to be boring. Whether you choose a model with a little color from the factory or decide to customize one yourself, adding a bit of personality to your gear can make using your radios even more fun. And who knows… maybe by the time you finish customizing your radios we will finally be able to tell you about that big news we mentioned earlier.[related_products is_auto_added="1"]

Are you looking for two way radios to use on your next camping or hunting trip? Here at Buy Two Way Radios we have several radios designed for the outdoor enthusiast. One of the main things you will want to look at is the wattage, and not that fake range they put on the packaging. The watts will help you gauge the actual transmit power of the radio. Next, a solid rugged design that has some water resistance. Next I would determine if there are any features I like such as GPS, weather alerts, or accessories such as throat mics. So here are just a few of the radios we like:
Garmin Rino 650 Two Way Radio with GPS
Midland GXT-860-VP4 Two Way Radios with Headsets and Charger
Motorola TALKABOUT MR355R Two Way Radios

That is correct, truck. Not a radio for your boat. This time we are going to talk about a radio for your truck (or car). For many of us, a hand held two way radio meets most of our needs, but a CB radio is what we want in our vehicle. CB radios are usually capable of connecting to external antennas, which dramatically increase outdoor range. They are also useful if you like the idea of communicating with other travelers outside of your immediate group. Here at Buy Two Way Radios we carry a nice selection of Cobra CB radios for serious drivers and mobile radio enthusiast.
If you are looking for a classic CB radio with modern updates, give the Cobra C29NWFM CB Radio w/ AM/FM + Nightwatch a look. It may look like an old CB on the exterior, but inside it is a very modern radio. It's capable of transmitting in both AM and FM modes! It's also equipped with a lot of the modern bells and whistles for CB. This one is popular with professional drivers for a reason, great performance and features in a functional design.
Looking for a CB with the same classic styling and modern updates but don't quite need all of the features of the C29NWFM? Then check out the Cobra 29 LTD Classic CB Radio w/ FM.
Want a handheld CB radio? You will want to look at the Cobra HHRT 50 ROADTRIP Handheld CB Radio. The HHRT50 also adds NOAA weather channel support, making it a weather radio as well! It even has a detachable antenna for longer range.
So go and give our CB Radio Section a look.[related_products is_auto_added="1"]

There are a lot of fun things you can do with a set of two way radios. Here at the office the other day we found this fun bit using some two ways as a remote camera trigger. A very long range remote camera trigger.
Another fun trick, you can use two radios as a short range repeater of sorts. We will let you guys figure that one out. Uhm, and it doesn't require duct tape.
Feel free to send us your favorite two way radio tricks and tips or drop them in the comments below and we will pass them on. Just remember, no actual internal modifications allowed to the radios. While I am sure you get great range when you attached that old TV antenna to your radio, well let us just leave it at that.
Of course, not every tip has to involve duct tape or creative engineering. Sometimes the simplest tricks make the biggest difference. For example, if you are using handheld radios outdoors, try stepping away from large metal objects or dense structures when transmitting. Even moving a few feet can improve signal strength dramatically. Holding the radio upright and speaking clearly into the microphone instead of directly across it can also help improve audio quality.
Another useful tip is learning how to make the most of your radio’s built-in features. Many handheld two way radios include functions like weather alerts, scan modes, and call tones that often go unused. Scanning can be especially handy if you want to monitor multiple channels at once, while call tones are a great way to get someone’s attention without having to keep calling their name over the air.
Two way radios have been around for decades, but people are still finding new and creative ways to use them. Whether it’s coordinating outdoor activities, keeping in touch during events, or experimenting with interesting projects like the remote camera trigger mentioned above, the possibilities are nearly endless. If you have discovered a clever trick with your radios, comment below let us know. We are always interested in hearing new ideas from fellow radio enthusiasts.[related_products is_auto_added="1"]

Hi all! Tomorrow is April 25th, the birthday of Guglielmo Marconi, the "father of radio". There are a few celebrations taking place this weekend, and I know quite a few of you are amateur radio enthusiasts, so have a great weekend.
Each year, amateur radio operators around the world celebrate International Marconi Day, a special event held in honor of Guglielmo Marconi, one of the pioneers of wireless communication. The event is held on the Saturday closest to April 25, Marconi’s birthday, and gives radio enthusiasts a chance to recognize the history and development of radio technology.
International Marconi Day is more than just a tribute. It is also an on-the-air operating event that encourages amateur radio operators to make contact with official stations located at sites connected to Marconi and his work. These stations operate from places with historical significance, adding an extra layer of meaning for operators who enjoy both radio communication and radio history.
Marconi’s early experiments helped prove that signals could be transmitted over long distances without wires, paving the way for modern wireless communications. That work helped shape the future of radio and opened the door to technologies that are still in use today. From amateur radio and marine communications to public safety and consumer two way radios, the impact of those early discoveries can still be seen everywhere.
For hams, International Marconi Day is a fun and meaningful event. It combines the challenge of making contacts with the opportunity to reflect on the roots of the hobby. It is also a reminder that today’s radios, while much more advanced, still rely on the same basic principle that made Marconi’s work so revolutionary.
Radio has come a long way since those earliest experiments, but events like International Marconi Day help keep that history alive. For anyone with an interest in wireless communication, it is a great way to celebrate one of the most important figures in radio history.[related_products is_auto_added="1"]

We now have some new marine radios from Midland, and since we have already gone over the reasons for having a radio for your boat, here is a short description for each one. (Contact us if you have any questions or to help find the right radio for you.):
Midland Nautico 1: This is a nice basic marine radio that has US, Canadian, and international marine channels, NOAA weather alerts, and even has a watertight storage bag.
Midland Nautico 3: This radio has US, Canadian, and international marine channels, NOAA weather alerts, meets JIS4 water proofing requirements, and a removable antenna
Regatta 1B and 1W: This transceiver is able to transmit at 1 watt or 25 watts and includes all US, Canadian, and international marine channels. The Reggata 1 has 10 NOAA all hazards weather alerts, meets JIS7 specifications and is water submersible. It includes DSC digital selective calling, channel scan, emergency channel 16/9, distress button, PA function, and a GPS data connector. It can also be permanently mounted.
The Nautico 1 makes a great backup radio, but I would prefer the Nautico 3 as my regular handheld and the one I would put in my ditch bag. The removable antenna on the Nautico 3 is another great feature, just hook up a longer antenna and you should get even more range. We do wonder a bit why the Regatta is water submersible though.[related_products is_auto_added="1"]
